It is fair to say that Stieg Larsson’s “Millennium Series” is a literary and cinematic phenomenon.

The first of the Swedish author's trilogy, The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo was adapted into a movie in 2009. This year, it will receive its Hollywood treatment, care of the always-amazing David Fincher.

It tells the story of a young hacker named Lisbeth Slander (played by a mesmerizing Noomi Rapace and will be played by Mara Rooney in the Hollywood version). With the help of a journalist, she must uncover the mysterious roots surrounding a sleepy town where women disappear like ghosts.

Lisbeth is not your typical girl-next-door. She is tough, both physically and mentally. And even after experiencing traumatic abuse, she channels that energy to her advantage.

It is Lisbeth’s unique disposition that had the entire FHM HQ thinking about female characters in cinema embodying strength and vigor, easily matching any man’s. Here are the 10 ogle-worthy who should be admired not only for their good looks but for their sheer might as well. Feminism has never been this entertaining.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo was commercially released here in the Philippines yesterday. Go see it!
