After building the hype train with a string of teasers, the official trailer to Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is finally here.

Universal Pictures released the two-minute clip and while it was naturally made out of the teasers, it still included a ton of new content that made it worth the wait.

Now that you’ve seen it, here are some observations on what to expect based on what the full trailer showed us:

Same old story

Fallen Kingdom’s plot has so far been a guessing game for fans, but the trailer now gives us a clearer idea of how its story will unfold. At the start, we see Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) flirting with Claire Dearing (Bryce Dallas Howard) inside a bar. “Owen, stop it. This is not why we’re here,” Claire says.

Owen then takes on a more serious tone and spills the beans. “I know why we’re here," he explains. "A rescue op, save the dinosaurs from an island that’s about to explode. What could go wrong?”

Blue and Owen’s reunion

Things didn’t really go well for Owen’s pet velociraptor after battling it out with the Indominus Rex in the previous Jurassic World film. She got thrashed hard then lost her pack in the fight and was last seen saying her goodbyes to Owen before disappearing into the night.

Now we know that Blue is still alive, thanks to Claire who reveals the news to Owen. This sets the perfect stage for a reunion between Jurassic World’s inseparable duo.

Ian Malcolm’s comeback

His comeback as the renowned “Chaos theorist” will have a big effect on Fallen Kingdom’s plot. Here’s what Malcolm has to say about dinosaurs after two decades: “These creatures were here before us. If we’re not careful, they’re going to be here after.”

T-Rex confirmed

The first Jurassic World teasers lacked some classic T-Rex action, so it’s good to know we’ll at least be getting a handful of scenes with the fan-favorite carnivore. The trailer shows Owen opening a shipping container with a slumbering T-Rex inside plus another scene where it chomps at a smaller dinosaur.

Owen is in serious danger

Our favorite dinosaur whisperer has survived a lot of close calls through the years but the trailer seems to raise a major death flag as it ends with Owen getting swallowed up by volcanic ash.
At this point, we won’t be surprised if they kill off Owen’s character for the dramatic effect.
