Last week we provided you with the biggest announcements from this year’s E3. [firstpara] Most of them were about the new hardware that will be fighting over gamers’ money, such as Sony and Microsoft’s new motion control implements, and Nintendo’s portable 3d gaming device, the 3DS.

But what about the games? Well, here are 6 that has many of us gamers go into overdrive with excitement!

1. The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword

Available on: Nintendo 3DS
Release date: 2011

Skyward Sword will be the first Zelda game to promise 1:1 motion control with the Wii’s Motion Control Plus. This means that Link will swing his sword the way you swing the Wii’s controller in real life.

The previous game in the series, Twilight Princess, didn’t have that kind of control, so this might actually be the closest that we’ll ever get to being like Link.
The art direction of Skyward Sword also sees the Zelda series return to its cool, cartoony look as opposed to the realistic styling of Twilight Princess. And it’s looking delicious so far.

2. Mortal Kombat

Available on: Xbox 360, Playstation 3
Release date: 2011

2009’s Mortal Kombat Vs. DC was Mortal Kombat jumping the shark. To be fair, the game was fun to play. But you couldn’t shake the feeling that this series was desperate for something cool and fresh.
But cool and fresh wasn’t what it needed. It needed to go back to its roots. It needed to have a solid fighting engine, a return to a darker, less campy atmosphere that hasn’t been there since Mortal Kombat 2, and of course, MORE awesome, crazier fatalities.
The new Mortal Kombat is attempting to do just that. The game returns to its 2D roots, and removes the sidestepping elements of previous 3D MK games.

The “X-ray mode,” a new addition to the series, sounds very exciting as it promises to make the game’s combo system as frenetic as, say, a Marvel Vs. Capcom game.
Ed Boon, the creator of the game, also promises that all our favorite characters from the earlier Mortal Kombat games will be making a return. Mortal Kombat’s iconic pit fatalities are also back!

Next: Gears of War 3 and Marvet vs Capcom3!
