In the 1989 comedy-sci-fi movie Back To Future II, protagonist Marty McFly, girlfriend Jennifer Parker, and Dr. Emmett "Doc" Brown traveled forward in time to October 21, 2015 from 1985—a good 30 years.

Yep, that day has come.

Fans around the world are commemorating what has become an important piece of pop culture, dubbed "Back To The Future Day," and we Filipinos are also doing the same.

Like former Summit Media employee Elijah Mendoza and his wife Joanna Mendoza (a Managing Editor for Summit Books). They took part in the festivities by cosplaying as Marty and Jennifer for the red-letter date, complete with a DIY hoverboard, a (faux) self-tying pair of kicks, and of course, the iconic DeLorean DMC-12.

"Growing up we both loved the BTTF movies but for different reasons: I'm a gadget & tech geek while she's into everything Hollywood. Naturally, Robert Zemeckis and Steven Spielberg's masterpiece is where our passions skew into a tangent," wrote Elijah in a Facebook post. "Now it's actually 2015—we may not have flying cars and time machines (yet), but I think our future turned out way cooler than we expected."

for the futuristic opus hasn't waned a bit

By the looks of things, the BTTF aficionados are really enjoying how their future has panned out.

Happy Back To The Future Day, guys!
