Blink-182 is back.
The pop-punk superstars have just released their first single in almost five years, and boy is it hot. Taken off their soon-to-be-released album California, their seventh, this all-new track is their first effort with Alkaline Trio member Matt Skiba on vocals.
Many of the band’s fans were absolutely heartbroken last year when they found out about original vocalist Tom Delonge’s messy departure. Co-frontman Mark Hoppus and drummer Travis Barker cited his passive attitude towards their new music as the biggest reason why working with the iconic singer was impossible. Skiba, who had been filling in for Delonge at their live shows, is at this point a far more potent choice. Given Tom's lengthy tenure with band, a lot of loyal fans were scared that the band would never recover. But the new single, "Bored To Death," should quell those fears, once and for all.
Amusingly, they released the song on the 182nd day of the year.
With early reviews from music critics calling it an "undeniable Blink track" and a "proof of the band's resilience," the all-new single assures us that Blink-182 is as strong as ever.
Their new album drops on July 1.
