Buried is definitely not for the claustrophobic, but then again you’ll probably end up being one by the end of the film so might as well catch it when it hits cinemas this month.

The story revolves around Paul Conroy (Ryan Reynolds), a US truck driver in Iraq who is ambushed and kidnapped by insurgents while on the job.

He awakens to find out that he is buried alive six feet under with only a mobile phone and a Zippo to use.



No idea how he got there and barely moments before he runs out of oxygen, Paul must conserve himself, his phone’s battery, and his lighter’s gas, but the FBI and his family need more time to track him down.

So little space, so little time – always the dilemma that surrounds characters in claustrophobia-inducing movies. But the feeling never gets old, as evidenced by our list of movies most memorable for its share of narrow spaces:
