The second generation of Encantadia Sang'gres has been revealed. We'll most likely get to know the other characters of the upcoming reboot of the fantaserye in the following days. (Marian Rivera, for one, have already been named as the series Ynang Reyna.)
But before we completely move on from the 2005 series, why don't we refresh ourselves on the whereabouts of its original cast members, particularly the enchantresses who cast a spell upon us. After all, it wasn't just Sunshine Dizon (who played Pirena), Iza Calzado (Amihan), Karylle (Alena), and Diana Zubiri (Danaya) who got us hooked on Encantadia...
In 2007, Cindy left the country and showbiz for good (she was then an Eat Bulaga co-host) to reside with her non-showbiz boyfriend in Lima, Peru. Now, she is a full-time homemaker to husband Daniel and six-year-old daughter Noa, and is apparently expecting another bundle of joy based on her Instagram photos.
After a productive stint on Encantadia, the Starstruck alum enjoyed a steady slew of projects before taking a break to focus on her family. When she is not busy with TV guestings, she is a doting wife to husband Rey Soldevilla and loving mom to daughter Ayesha. Yasmien is also reportedly getting her singing career back on track, despite undergoing an operation to remove a cyst in her vocal cords two years ago.
Last time we heard from the reigning FHM Sexiest Woman was during her shoot for the January cover. Jennylyn is slowly cementing her status as this generation's "Rom-Com Queen," with English Only, Please, Walang Forever (and back-to-back Metro Manila Film Festival Best Actress awards), and the upcoming Just The 3 Of Us, where she stars alongside John Lloyd Cruz. On the side, she is into triathlon and taking care of son Jazz (and perhaps, even Dennis Trillo?).
The singer-TV host has since transferred to rival station ABS-CBN, dabbled in some theater acting (Rama Hari, Cinderella), and took on hosting chores on It's Showtime! Karylle has also made a name for herself in the international scene with The Kitchen Musical and Point of Entry 3. She is now happily married to Sponge Cola frontman, Yael Yuzon.
After switching networks in 2012, Iza has been a regular fixture on ABS-CBN's reality TV shows (The Biggest Loser: Pinoy Edition) and drama series (Kahit Puso'y Masugatan, FPJ's Ang Probinsyano, Dolce Amore).
Glaiza de Castro will have her hands full in filling Sang'gre Pirena's shoes, as Sunshine's portrayal of the role earned her critical—even international—acclaim. These days, Dizon lends her acting chops to the family drama Little Nanay, when she isn't bonding with her two kids.
Her major role in Encantadia did a lot for Diana's acting career. After a steady stream of showbiz endeavors (in different networks), she tied the knot with long-time boyfriend Andy Smith in 2015. Her most recent projects were a couple of guest appearances in GMA-7's drama anthology, Karelasyon.
Snaps from Pia, Liza, Marian, Solenn, and Nadine top the list
