Our favorite Dark Horse Comics anti-hero, Hellboy, is making a comeback to the big screen. Unfortunately, it won’t be a third sequel to the two previous films.

Hellboy creator Mike Mignola confirmed this in a post on Facebook and revealed that it will instead be an R-rated reboot of the series.

Aside from these, not much information is available, but according to The Verge, the current working title of the film is Hellboy: Rise of the Blood Queen.

There's also no release date yet, although IMDb has marked the film as “in development” with a potential 2018 launch.

This comes after Guillermo del Toro, who directed the first two Hellboy movies in 2004 and 2008, made a statement back in February that a third sequel was not in the works.
