The trailer for John Wick: Chapter 2 just dropped and it looks like our canine-loving hitman is in for another wild ride.

Despite the occasional jabs at his supposed shoddy acting (thanks to his monotone voice and signature blank stare), the work that Keanu Reeves has done for John Wick has somewhat redeemed him from previous forgettable performances, and might have even landed him the perfect role: a ruthless assassin who's less talk and more about the action.

Keanu isn't really a bad actor; it's just that it takes a very kind of role to maximize his understated thespian chops. With that in mind, FHM takes a look back at some of his most iconic silver screen characters and ranks them based on their level of badassery. You might already have an idea about which Keanu incarnation claimed the top spot.

7) Johny Utah

Point Break (1991)

His dashing looks paired with a surfboard was enough to earn him the 1992 MTV Movie Award for Most Desirable Male (that must count for something). Still, many consider this the flick that launched him into the action movie scene, hence the special mention.

6) Jack Traven

Speed (1994)

While it was pretty strange to see him out of a suit and tie or trench coat, he did justice to the role of the foolhardy LA SWAT officer. Also, plus points for helping the career of bus-driving cutie Sandra Bullock take off.

5) Kai

47 Ronin (2013)

We'd gladly take this over his flimsy portrayal of main antagonist Donaka Mark in Man of Tai Chi. Keanu, with the scruffy look, long hair, and sharp blades, admittedly looks good in this kind of setting.

4) Ted 'Theodore' Logan

Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989), Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey (1991)

This goofy version of Keanu should have ranked higher if not for the shared billing with Alex Winter. The time-travelling duo can rival the likes of Lloyd Christmas and Harry Dunn (Dumb and Dumber), and Jay and Silent Bob (Clerks), which says a lot about their ability to draw out hearty laughs. Sing it: "GOD GAVE ROCK AND ROLL TO YOU!"

3) John Constantine

Constantine (2005)

The exorcist extraordinaire placed this high because of the supernatural movie's arresting imagery. If constantly kicking the Devil's unholy ass is what you do for a living, then you have to be something special.

2) John Wick

John Wick (2014), John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017)

Moral of the story: don't mess with anyone else's pet dog, especially if it belongs to a killer for hire. Keanu was built to play this silent executioner. The ultra-bloody fight scenes are some of the best choreography he's ever had to perform onscreen.

1) Neo

The Matrix (1999), The Matrix Reloaded (2003), The Matrix Revolutions (2003)

The computer programmer-slash-hacker easily takes the top spot because of its impact on Keanu's career. The pop cultural significance of Neo and the hit franchise in the sci-fi film genre is enough to validate his whole body of work. It is indeed The One.
