Inspired by their forefathers, country’s top hip-hop artists such as Gloc 9 and the late Francis Magalona, a new breed of musicians is rising. Armed with their poetic lines and graceful delivery, these performers are slowly making a mark—and making waves as smooth as their lyrics and harmony.

These rising rappers are not the hip-hoppers you're used to. Say hello to the rise of the fast-tongued females—the femcees, as they are popularly known. Capable of spitting rhymes with utter ferocity, these creative musicians are taking the game to a whole new level.

Here we present 6 Pinay femcees you should be looking out for.

1) DB

Swag for days. That’s how we’d describe Dess aka DB. Don’t let her cute and petite exterior fool you, because this lady spits pure fire. Part of the hiphop collective Baryo Berde, this ball of positivity is someone ready to conquer the mainstream like the queen that she is.

2) FOSSILS

If music could be used to release depression, Fossils, aka Yung Moon, is sure as hell doing it right. With lyrics like “Tip off the bottle, pour a glass of whiskey / If you hear a bang, I’m at block 3, 23B-60” she has mastered the craft of sad girl rap, but with much more bite.

3) LEXI HEX

Lil Lexi Hex is an oddity: a girl that spits satanic rhymes. She raps about sleeping with your boyfriend in a pentagram and then devouring your dad right after. It's  pretty twisted. But then again, what's wrong with that?

4) A Problem Like Maria

The problem with Maria is people tend to forget that she’s a rapper first, and not just a chanteuse who sings on electro pop and R&B jams. A writer by craft and at heart, APLM could write rap circles around any fool who dares to challenge her.

5) Peaceful Gemini

Peaceful Gemini has a refreshing take on old school boombap hiphop. And judging by the features and her song "Cloud 9 In My Mind", this woman is going places in the rap scene.

6) Third Eye

Cut from a different cloth, Third Eye comes from the hazier side of hiphop. This cloud rap princess and her poetry would take you out to a trip that would make you understand why the kids call this "lit."
