A second record already. How is this album different from your first?
Well for one thing I was allowed to use a full orchestra and everything you’ll hear in this album were performed live. From the strings, to wind instruments, even the shakers were there in the studio. So if you liked the first album, you’ll enjoy For You, as well.

How would you define your music’s genre?
My songs are all sang in standards. They’re songs popularized by Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Nat King Cole, Samuel Davis Jr., Dave Martin, and their like, during the 1950s. Sa sobrang galing ng melody even up to now or even after 50 years, people will continuously make versions of their songs. Kaya siya tinawag na standard kasi siya na yung standard to songs they remake. They are the ones who have stood the test of times and immortal na yung mga melodies nila.

Most of your covers in your album came from female singers.
Look at David Cook. He sang Always be my Baby, and made it his own song. Ha ha ha! I guess what’s really important is how you render it.

Were you as hands on in your Music Video like you were in your album? Actually, Treb Monteras directed my video. He’s very easy to work with, so I trust him with the music video, whatever he says I just follow. Mas relax ako compared sa album recording, I have this perfectionist complex that I can hear what came out wrong, I want it to be perfect and I won’t stop until it satisfies me.

Where you as active on picking up the girls who appeared in your video?

Ha ha ha! That’s not my choice, it was MCA’s decision. I just go with whoever they pick and was quite relaxed because all of them were very talented and very beautiful.
