If you’re a Batman fan, but were largely disappointed by DC’s fragile portrayal of the Dark Knight in the Justice League movie, then we have some good news for you.
DC and Warner Bros. have partnered up with Japanese animation company Kamikaze Douga to add a new storyline to the popular superhero franchise with an upcoming Batman film. It’s called Batman Ninja, and while the title is a bit weird, its trailer will surely blow you away.
Set in feudal Japan, Bruce Wayne finds himself transported back in time with a bunch of allies including Robin (both versions), Nightwing, and Alfred all wearing traditional samurai-inspired outfits. Of course, any Batman ensemble would never be complete without classic villains like Two-Face, Catwoman, Harley Quinn, and most especially the Joker.
Character designs were done by manga creator Takashi Okazaki. If you’re not familiar with his awesome work, check out this clip from the Afro Samurai anime:
Batman Ninja is directed by Junpei Mizusaki (Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure) and will get released sometime in 2018.
