It's been two decades since Canadian singer Alanis Morissette's "Ironic" became a big hit. The year was 1995, and we were head over feet for the acclaimed artist.
Today, the internet has breathed new life into the alternative classic, after Morissette performs the song with new and updated lyrics that cover #MillenialThings such as Twitter, Tinder and Instagram.
Appearing in the same red knit hat and thick braids she wore in the original music video, Alanis performed the new-old song on the American late-night talk show, The Late Late Show, and was joined by a similarly dressed James Corden, the show's host. Like the '90s song, the duo sang about supposedly "ironic" scenarios—this time inspired by the world of 2015.
"Ironic" was the third single of her third studio album Jagged Little Pill. The album sold 30 million copies worldwide and made Alanis one of the fastest selling female artist of the ’90s.
