Who? Patrick Wilson (hefty), Jackie Earle Haley (powerless)
What’s it about? Set in an alternate 1985 America, Watchmen is an intricate multi-layered mystery adventure adapted from Alan Moore’s furiously dark graphic novel series that transformed American comics. In this flick, superheroes are like everyday Joes who, for all we know, make their own Richard Nixon impression (still the US president here) whenever bored. Things get nasty when inkblot-masked Rorschach (Haley) starts to unravel a plot to kill and discredit all past and present superheroes.
What’s good about it? It met the comic book fans’ expectation, unlike some vampire movie we know of.
What’s bad about it? We are all for Akerman wearing that skimpy number, but we kind of wished it were Megan Fox in latex.
The verdict: If you’re not in the hospital, dependent on machines to keep you alive, then you have no excuse to miss this. -Rhea M. Catada
