A new trailer for the upcoming Bryan Singer-helmed comic book blockbuster X-Men: Apocalypse has been released today.

The movie, which opens on May 18, 2016 (we're a number of days ahead the May 27 U.S. screening) is a follow-up to the acclaimed X-Men: Days of Future Past. Replacing the sentinels as X-antagonists is someone equally titanic but immensely more durable: Apocalypse.

The trailer paints the X-Men universe's "first and most powerful mutant" in his most threatening appearance yet. In it, he demonstrates his powers to Magneto in a scene where he drops everyone in a room in what seems to be a snap of the finger. His cohorts, the Four Horsemen—Magneto, Storm, Angel, and Psylocke—wreak havoc too in Apocalypse's mission to cleanse mankind and create a new world order with him as the supreme leader.

On the opposite side of the equation, Mystique and Professor X lead the X-Men (shown in the trailer are Cyclops, Beast, Nightcrawler, Jean Grey, and Quicksilver to name a few) against what may be the mutant squad's greatest nemesis yet.
