Marvel released a first look at Avengers: Infinity War over the weekend, which started filming last January 23. That's right, it's happening and it's happening quick—Spider-Man, Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Star-Lord, and more will all be together on the big screen!
The video starts off by introducing the Infinity Stones and the Infinity Gauntlets, before showing off some of the movie's incredible set pieces. Robert Downey Jr. (Tony Stark/Iron Man), Tom Holland (Peter Parker/Spider-Man), and Chris Pratt (Peter Quill/Star-Lord) make an appearance to share their thoughts about filming, while directors Joe and Anthony Russo discuss the story, which is about the Avengers taking on a new bad guy, Thanos.
“Avengers: Infinity War is the culmination of the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe that started in May 2008 with Iron Man,” Marvel president Kevin Feige says. “Thanos shows us why he is the biggest, the best, the baddest villain that we've ever had. And the most frightening villain that the Avengers have ever faced.”
The video also features new concept art, including Thor and Rocket Raccoon battling together.
Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters on May 4, 2018, while the untitled fourth Avengers movie follows on May 3, 2019.
Is this a promotion or the commercialization of culture?
