In this golden age of shooting, basketball has been defined by range, typified centers who have the ability to hit the three and shooting guards who DGAF about launching from almost half court. The farther the shot, the more likely it will land the player on the daily highlight reel.

A group of YouTube users must have taken this to heart when they set out to reclaim their record for highest basketball shot ever.

The Australian crew How Ridiculous, composed of Brett Stanford, Derek Herron, and Scott Gaunson, first clinched the title five years ago, only to be eclipsed by fellow YouTubers Dude Perfect at 162.458 m (533 ft) earlier this year.

You'd be wrong to think that Stanford, Herron, and Gaunson would let it pass.

The trio traveled all the way to Mauvoisin Dam in Valais, Switzerland to make the "ridiculous" attempt at a breathtaking 180.968 m (593.73 ft).

What's more astonishing is the fact that Herron pulled it off only on his third freakin' try.

He told Guinness World Records, "It was a surreal moment nailing it on the third shot. I watched the ball head towards the rim and saw the net move but still had my doubts that it went in until I saw Scott going crazy."

Just look at the glee on their faces after a mission accomplished:

Your turn, Steph.
