If you’re like most of us who are on the tito stage already, you probably prefer to hang at home instead of going out with the bros. But just because you’re not in a gimmick place (AKA a bar) doesn’t mean you should stick to convenience store beers and liquors. Believe it or not, some of your favorite cocktails—which mostly come with an expensive price tag—are easy to make. You just have to have the right ingredients, a recipe, and you’re on your way to becoming a wiz in your very own bar.
These recipes are sure to impress, so make sure you’ve mastered this before your next house party. Plus, you can do these in less than a minute!
The daiquiri is a simple mix of rum, citrus, and sugar. The challenge here is to balance the rum’s sweetness with the freshness of the two other ingredients. One trick you can do is to make sure you use a not-too-sweet rum for the mix (we used white rum for this recipe). Another tip is to make the simple sugar by yourself. It’s easy to do: Just mix equal parts of water and sugar in a small saucepan over medium heat. Stir constantly until the sugar dissolves. Remove it from the heat afterward. Lastly, allow it to cool completely and then store it.
Pair this one with: Anything barbecued. Red meat.
Gin Tonic is another classic that’s easy to make. Just get your favorite gin, a can of tonic water, and that's it! You can even go as light and as strong as you wish, depending on the amount of tonic water that you pour. The lime adds a refreshing twist to this cocktail—it’s not just there for mere design!
Pair this one with: Cheese. Red meat. Seafood.
