How much are you willing to spend for a decent date?
Kuripot guys would say P500 while some would say that'd be bitin (and also cheap) and go for P1,000.
But how about we meet half-way? Say, P750? Or since we like thinking in exact figures, P700. Hence, the FHM P700 Date Guide! It's not too cheap, but not too expensive either. #SaktoLang
In this new series, FHM tests the most sulit food date places in the Metro. This week's pick: KyoChon Chicken.
WHAT IS KYOCHON?
KyoChon is the original and leading chicken joint in South Korea. It has over 1,000 branches worldwide in seven countries (South Korea, US, China, Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and the Philippines). The Philippine branch recently opened at the ground floor of SM Megamall Building B.
WHY GO THERE?
Aside from chicken "you've never had before," as their slogan says, it's a global brand, so you can ask your girl "Wanna have something Korean for a change?" with swag.
The two pictures above are of Lee Min Ho and Super Junior. They're the latest brand ambassadors of KyoChon (but forget about them because you'll be there for the chicken). Your girl will surely appreciate that the restaurant has a huge screen playing videos of these K-pop heartthrobs.
HOW'S THE AMBIENCE?
KyoChon prides itself as a full-service, fine-dining restaurant (they hate being called "fastfood") so you don't have to line up at the cashier to order. Bonus points!
The interior is cozy and modern with wooden walls, metal decors, and warm lighting. Mellow Korean music plays at the background, which can help you make pa-cute as you exchange getting-to-know-each-other pleasantries with your date.
HOW'S THE FOOD?
And now the most important part. Like the other Korean "-chon" chicken joint, KyoChon serves perfectly-fried fried chicken...but with more choices to suit your date's mood. Here's a handy guide:
1) For The Adventurous
You know how Koreans take "spicy" seriously? Try the super-hot KyoChon Red Series made from fresh chili peppers (which are aphrodisiacs too, by the way). Pair it with their take on the classic Kimchi Rice and a bottle or two of beer—yes, they serve beer!—and you've basically laid the foundations of a spicy date.
KyoChon Red Series Medium, P290 (10-piece wings or four-piece drumsticks); Kimchi Rice with Egg, P99 each (P198 for two orders); San Mig Light, P65 (P130 for two orders)
