International Foodie Favorites We Want To See In The PH

Shake Shack isn't the only restaurant we've been dying to crash

When Shake Shack confirmed last week that it will finally be flipping burgers in the Philippines, the internet went crazy for it. And why wouldn’t we celebrate such a joyous milestone in our local fast food landscape? We finally don’t need to book ourselves a ticket out of the country to get a taste of their thick and frothy milkshakes and juicy Hollywood-approved ’Shroom burger.

But Shake Shack is just one foodie favorite off our wish list—there are other establishments that we want to experience. We're crossing our fingers that we'll finally see the ones below in the near future!

Of course, Shake Shack’s number one contender has to be present so Filipinos can decide for themselves which burger joint serves better comfort food. Besides munching on their beefy burgers, imagine diving in their famous Animal Fries and savoring every drop of its creamy secret sauce. In-N-Out had some pop-ups in Manila before, but it’s about time they set up shop in our capital.

Godiva Chocolatier

Sure, chocolate-covered strawberries aren’t hard to come by at all—but it’s definitely the rich and silky texture of Godiva’s Belgian chocolate that sets it apart from anything you’ve tasted. There are also so many sinful treats you’d want to hoard from this chocolate shop (to give to your sweet-tooth girlfriend, of course!), including chocolate-covered pretzels, hot chocolate mixes, and a box of dark chocolate truffles. Don’t forget to get her some creamy soft serve, too!

Famous Amos

There are many sugar-loving folks hoping for Famous Amos’ cookie comeback. Its crunchy nuggets of happiness will make your girlfriend whisper sweet nothings in your ear once you take her here. We recommend buying a whole pack of cookie crumbs when you visit her at home—it’s best enjoyed with a scoop of your favorite ice cream.

Lord of the Fries

If you’ve ever ridden the Australian subway, then you’ve probably spotted a Lord of the Fries stall near the train stations. This hole-in-the-wall will make you love deep-fried potatoes more than you already do. Some of their flavors include Italian pizza, Mexican taco, New York chilli with the irresistible goodness of our favorite carb. Yum.

Dominique Ansel Bakery

There’s no doubt Dominique Ansel is a dessert visionary. His legendary cronuts still have so many people lining up for the tasty treat. So maybe Manila’s not as posh as London or Tokyo—the only cities where the viral bakery has branched out to—but foodies can dream, can’t they?

Garrett Popcorn Shops

We don’t know how they do it, but every piece of popped corn is perfectly coated with the flavor of your choice—and there are 11 to choose from! Their caramel popcorn is also nothing like your childhood carnival favorite, as each indulgent piece is filled with a crackling candy glaze.

You’ll never forget the first time you slurped your way through an Ichiran bowl. Its milky and savory broth sets it apart from your usual noodle order. With the combination of flavorful soup, thin and perfectly chewy noodles, and tender slices of meat, it's a bowl you'll be licking dry. This must-visit Japanese ramenba has long been under the radar of Tokyo lovers, and it’s about damn time it squeezes its way into every self-proclaimed Filipino ramen connoisseur’s must-eat list.
