UFC 115 – On June 13, 2010, former UFC light heavyweight champion Chuck Liddell faced off against Rich “Ace” Franklin in many dubbed as what could be Liddell’s final MMA bout.

All 17,000 in attendance at General Motors Place in Vancouver cheered on as “The Iceman” made his way into the octagon, hoping for a last hurray for the 40-year old veteran.

Father Time of course has caught up with Liddell, enduring three consecutive knockout losses in his recent fights, prompting UFC president and best friend Dana White to force Liddell to retire for his own benefit.

But all is hell with Liddell, as he lobbied White for one final run at the title. He returned to tiptop shape and coached The Ultimate Fighter 11 as he prepared for a UFC 115 bout with rival Tito Ortiz, a man he has beaten twice before.

Instead, Chuck stumbled another knockout loss against Franklin barely six seconds left in the first round come fight night.

Convincingly enough, last weekend saw Liddell’s ultimate retirement fight, and it is safe to say that he is hanging his gloves up for good.

That’s not to say however, that this is the last we will see of this man. In fact, we have more than enough UFC fights to ponder upon as he takes the next step towards his storied career.

Here are Chuck Liddell’s greatest hits inside the octagon.
