Alaska Aces star Calvin Abueva might lose his prized spot in the Gilas Pilipinas roster following his bout of unexplained absences during recent practice sessions.

National team head coach Chot Reyes expressed concern after “The Beast” was once again nowhere to be found during their practice session over the weekend, Spin.ph reports.

“If he doesn't come by tomorrow we're gonna be forced to drop him. We have no other recourse,” he said.

Reyes also said it has all been radio silence on Abueva’s side despite their attempts to contact the usually outspoken player. “Wala pa ring balita. (Kino-contact namin siya) through Alaska, through their team manager, pero wala, there's no news,” he said.

Aside from this, Abueva was missing in action during Friday’s 2017 PBA Governors’ Cup game between Alaska and Star Hotshots where his team lost 101-92.

Abueva’s absences have all been attributed to personal problems, which the energetic fan-favorite has yet to expound on. But this isn’t the only problem our national team needs to address. Earlier this month, Abueva and new Gilas recruit Christian Standhardinger were involved in a heated moment during a tune-up game.

Abueva, who is among the veteran staples of Gilas, was announced as a member of the 12-man lineup that will compete in the upcoming FIBA Asia Cup tournament in Lebanon from August 8 to 20.
