The NBA is home to the most ridiculous freaks of nature.

Long before basketball unicorns like Giannis Antetokounmpo and Kristaps Porzingis galloped on the court, old-school bigs (aka dinosaurs) roamed the paint. One of them was unlike any other: 7'7" human skyscraper Manute Bol.

Swatting shots—more career blocks than points—and taking the occasional three during his time in the league, the Sudanese-born American player was literally larger than life. And that statement was evident in many ways for the man who once killed a lion (or so he says).

If his photo with the shortest NBA player ever, Washington Bullets teammate Muggsy Bogues (5'3"), isn't enough proof of Bol's towering presence, then you have to see this unbelievable image of him  swimming in a regular-sized indoor pool, posted by Twitter account Super 70s Sports.

It's the stuff of pure urban legend. A half-naked Mark Eaton in a forest getting mistaken for Bigfoot wouldn't be suprising...

Bol isn't the only classic big man who received a hilarious mention from the amusing sports time machine:

Elvin Hayes

Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Wes Unseld

Some random European player

Bill Walton

\

Bill, Sam Bowie

Dikembe Mutombo

And more Bill Walton
