It's been a week and a half of hard-fought, electrifying basketball, and the start of the 2016-17 NBA season didn't disappoint.
Reigning champions Cleveland Cavaliers continue their winning run and has stayed unbeaten in five games. Philadelphia 76ers' Joel Embiid, despite sitting out his first two years, looks pretty damn good.
The identical 4-1 records of the Oklahoma City Thunder, Golden State Warriors, and San Antonio Spurs are indicative of how grueling things are out there in the West. Former OKC teammates Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durant (now with GSW) have finally faced off, and it looks like the latter has moved on from their bitter parting.
Aside from intriguing storylines, another thing we've missed dearly in those four months of "basket-lull" is the player intensity. And the beginning of a basketball season, in which a certain longing for the game is still felt, amplifies that energy from the superstars to the role players.
