This long bomb was more valuable than any other shot Stephen Curry has made so far in his NBA career. At least it was for 30-year-old Filipino Jerald Acoba from Tulare, California, whose half-court heave swished through the net during the final quarter break of the game between the Los Angeles Lakers and the Memphis Grizzlies, winning him the MGM Big Shot Jackpot of $95,000 (almost P5 million).
What made his victory more special was the chance to celebrate with LA Lakers players Nick Young, Julius Randle, and D'Angelo Russell, whose "ice in my veins" routine Acoba even mimicked when his shot found the bottom of the net.
He was the second lucky participant this season; Sta Maria's Travis Milne took home $35,000 back in November. Acoba is planning to buy his mom a new car with his winnings, telling Lakers.com, "She's always been there for me when I needed her. She's always there to help me out. It's my turn to repay the favor to her."
