Pacific Xtreme Combat (PXC) 46 had a little bit of everything for everybody last Saturday night (November 15): great finishes, full-length brawls, and even some head-scratchers to balance things out. By the end of the night, two new champions were crowned, but unfortunately for the home crowd, neither of them were Pinoy. Aaawww.

Here’s a recap of some of the action from PXC 46!

THE QUICK FINISHES

There were four first-round finishes on the night, three of which were by slick submission.

Wesley Perriera vs. Arex Montalban

Brazilian-Japanese fighter Perriera started the night off with a bang. He came out taking advantage of his reach, peppering Arex Montalban with punches from the outside. And when the fight went to the canvas, he used his grappling prowess to secure the armbar submission in the opening round.

Mark Abelardo vs. Ernie Braca

Half-Pinoy, half-Kiwi Abelardo made quick work of his taller opponent from Legacy MMA and scored the only TKO/KO finish of the night. After dropping Braca to the mat with a crisp punch to the chin, Abelardo reigned down heavy hammer fists to the head until his opponent went limp.

Jenel Lausa vs. Dean Bermudez

Team Insider’s Jenel Lausa was simply masterful as he took Dean Bermudez apart in the striking department and pounced on a submission when he saw the opportunity. Lausa finished the bout via guillotine choke in the opening round.

Cortney Casey vs. Gina Iniong

Team Lakay’s Gina Iniong took on the lengthier and taller Cortney Casey only to come out with her first career loss. The American fighter was always just one step ahead of Iniong the entire fight, leading to her victory over the Pinay via first-round rear-naked choke.

DECISIONS, DECISIONS

Four bouts went to the judge’s scorecards but not all of them were pretty. Luckily, three fights that went the distance provided plenty of riveting action.

Josh Sapinoso vs. Robin Eclavea

Young Fil-Am Josh Sapinoso made his mark at PXC 46 using his superior wrestling skills to edge out Hawaiian Robin Eclavea via unanimous decision.

Roy Doliguez vs. Dennis Salazar

In one of the most entertaining fights of the night, MMA vet Roy Doliguez engaged in a three-round war with Dennis Salazar. It was a back-and-forth battle, but Submission Sports Philippines’ Doliguez came out on top with the decision victory.

Crisanto Pitpitunge vs. Rambaa Somdet

This supposed battle of elite strikers had more ground fighting than expected. Pitpitunge, a former PXC champ and a Team Lakay stalwart, took on Muay Thai ace Somdet. After three rounds of powerful strikes, slips on the canvas, and leg-lock stalemates, Pitpitunge bested the Thai fighter via unanimous decision.
