In a shocking turn of events, Ranidel de Ocampo moves on from the PBA franchise that he helped turn into a contender for eight seasons.

The 35-year-old TNT KaTropa forward was traded to the Phoenix Fuel Masters for Norbert Torres and a 2017 first-round draft pick), before being dealt again to the Meralco Bolts for Justin Chua and another pick in the same round.

De Ocampo, who was swapped for Don Allado by the FedEx Express in 2008, posted about waiting for a particular news earlier today:

"We're rebuilding for the future. We have experience, but hindi na rin bumabata yung average age ng team," KaTropa team manager Virgil Villavicencio was quoted by SPIN.ph.

It would be an understatement to describe RDO's time with the powerhouse squad as fruitful:

-6-time champion (2008–09 Philippine, 2010–11 Philippine, 2011 Commissioner's, 2011–12 Philippine, 2012–13 Philippine, 2015 Commissioner's)
-2-time PBA Finals MVP (2012–13 Philippine, 2015 Commissioner's)
-Best Player of the Conference (2014 Governors')
-8-time All-Star (2008–2011, 2013, 2014, 2016, 2017)
-3-time Mythical First Team (2012–2014)
-Mythical Second Team (2015)

During his prime, the man they call Hodor was nearly unstoppable in the post, schooling opponents with his killer footwork.

Even in his ripe years, never turn your back on De Ocampo or end up getting dunked on.

He became the gold standard for stretch fours after developing a three-point shot late in his career to complement an already deadly mid-range game.

The underrated facets of his game, however: defense and hustle, making De Ocampo arguably one of the best two-way players the league has ever seen.

May you have a Ranidel-ightful stint with Meralco!
