Did you guys witness the epic hoops battle that went down inside the PhilSports Arena last night? Man, it was fantastic!
For those who missed it, here’s a summary:
Looking to extend the 2014 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Finals to a winner-take-all Game 5, the Talk ‘N Text Tropang Texters started like a house on fire in Game 4. They buried their shots in the first quarter and built a 17-1 lead right off the bat. The San Mig Super Coffee Mixers tried to bounce back, but their rivals still maintained a comfy double digit lead at halftime. Talk ‘N Text was lookin’ good.
But the next two quarters were a different story. San Mig scored 16 straight points in the third period to get them within one, 69-68. Talk ‘N Text still held on though, ending the period with a five-point lead, 74-69.
Then came the fourth and final quarter.
Mark Barroca and James Yap combined for 22 points in the payoff period leading the Mixers' 16-4 run that all but sealed the ending. The final score: 100-91.
By winning Game 4, San Mig Super Coffee won the Finals, 3-1, and a place in history. It's the team’s third-straight Finals win in a row (dating back to the 2013 Governor’s Cup), which also earned them a place in the elite group of PBA squads who have won at least three consecutive championships. Crispa, San Miguel Beer, Alaska, and Great Taste, make room for San Mig Super Coffee!
But what’s more important is it sets the team up for a shot at a Grand Slam. Kayo na talaga, Mixers!
We know a big part of San Mig’s success comes from teamwork, but we just can’t help but marvel at their players' individual skills and talents. As a tribute to the most dominant team in the PBA today, we give you the Mixers' highlight reel-worthy, #BoomPanes moments from Game 4!
Check it out on the next page! Enjoy!
