We commend all the efforts our government is doing to help ease traffic, like limiting the number of buses that can go vroom in Manila. But, we'll be frank with y'all: If you think the hellish traffic that makes us Hagardo Versozas almost on a daily basis will completely go away soon, you're wrong. Sorry to burst your bubble bud, but we don't see it happening in the near future, especially if on-road disciple is always forgotten—a tragic reason why there's a lot of WTF road mishaps.
A sucky prediction, yes it is. But all is not lost. If you're really hell-bent on avoiding local traffic, well, there's an app for that! Or, to be more accurate, there are apps for that! Because, we might not be able to physically rid the city of undisciplined drivers or improve our roads, but we can always tap good ol' tech's powers to make drivin' and commutin' a whole lot easier.
Check them out below, the godsend apps that can help you big time in your daily dreary road trips.
1. Metro Manila Traffic Navigator
Created by the often-maligned folks from the MMDA and TV5, the Traffic Navigator displays the road incidents that can affect your travel on major roads. It also gives you a heads-up on the severity of traffic (e.g. light, heavy, moderate) on different parts of the metro. Lastly, it lets you be a good citizen by reporting road info to the MMDA via Twitter—so that other folks can be in the know, too!
