We've always been interested in tech toys that can get us to say "WHOA!" That's why when Huawei made official the new Ascend D1 Quad XL here in the Philippines we couldn't but take notice. After all, this handset could be considered as the Chinese brand's superphone. Quad-core, baby!
So, let's cut to the chase. The D1 Quad XL comes with an impressive bevy of specs, headlined by a 1.4GHZ quad-core chip that's partnered with 1GB of RAM. It also has 8GB of internal memory for all your files, apps, and multimedia content (and you can have more via a microSD card). There's also a dual-cam feature composed of an 8-megapixel rear shooter and a more basic 1.3-megapixel cam up front.
In terms of eye-candy, the D1 Quad XL also follows the current "bigger is better" trend, coming with a sizable 4.5-inch touchscreen, in HD! On the software side, the device runs on Android Ice Cream Sandwich out of the box, although we hope it's already flavored with the latest Jelly Bean version from the get-go. But no worries, as we're pretty sure its hardware will handle any future JB upgrades easily. Of course, wireless connectivity over 3G, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth is also included.
Huawei says the D1 Quad XL follows the performance of its previous devices (like the Honor) in the power department. That means we can expect an above-par battery life, which is great news if you're always on the go. As for SRPs, those are still TBA although since Huawei's not really known for nakaka-high blood smartphone prices (fortunately!), we're betting this one will go for between P19,000 to P22,000.
