As if saying we can't use the "I'm piss poor" excuse for not having a tablet anymore, Cherry Mobile is rolling out another cheap-o device here in the Philippines this week. Ladies and gents, meet the Fusion Air! For just P2,999, it will do your Android bidding without you feeling any panghihinayang over buying a new gadget.
Now don't expect awesome hardware to go with the Fusion Air. Given its dirt-cheap price tag, asking for top-notch, drool-worthy specs is like wishing your P50 budget meal came with Kobe Beef and a side of caviar. Still, it has the basic specs you need to ride the tablet bandwagon. The Fusion Air comes with a 1GHz processor that's paired with 512MB of RAM, a combo that should be enough to handle your basic tablet tasks.
Capacity is at 4GB and is expandable up to 32GB if you've got a microSD card in hand. That's good enough for storing apps, songs, videos, and tons of selfies. Speaking of selfies, the Fusion Air packs a VGA camera for your basic mobile shooting needs.
The good news is, even if it's made for the kuripot in us, the device still packs online connectivity via Wi-Fi, letting you stalk that Facebook crush of yours if you're in a hotspot. Its seven-inch touchscreen can recognize input from several fingers at any one time. Last but not the least, the Fusion Air is slapped with the latest version of Android (Jelly Bean). All that in a device that's quite thin at just 9.8mm thick.
Good job, Cherry Mobile! May you continue offering more and more tech toys that won't leave wallets everywhere high and dry. You have our (and our fellow cash-strapped local geeks') blessing.
Get two screens in one!
Hopefully, well see Erich Gonzales and Jasmine Curtis-Smith riding the waves there, too
