We just got official word that the Nokia Lumia 610 is headed to our shores this week! Yep, dear Techies, another Windows Phone handset from the Finns will be making its way to the Philippines within the next 7 days, following on the footsteps of the Lumia 710 and Lumia 800 which were launched last week.
The news came as a press announcement from Nokia. You can't get more official than that. And, get this, we're the first in Asia to receive the device! Tells you how much Nokia still views us as a viable market, which is no surprise given the company's still strong following. Fact is, last time we heard, the Finnish titan is still the top dog locally when it comes to mobile phones.
Now back to the Lumia 610. In case you didn't know, the device is the entry-level entry in Nokia's Lumia line. It boasts a 3.7-inch, 800 x 480 touchscreen, a 5-megapixel camera with HD 720p video recording, LED, and autofocus, and you're standard connectivity options via WiFi and Bluetooth. Taking care of the computing chores for is the combo of a 800MHz chip and 256MB of RAM. And, yes, it comes with Windows Phone 7.5 Mango. It also sports more curves compared to its siblings.
Oh wait, before we forget, what we're talking about here is the unlocked retail version. Previously, we reported that it will be carried by Smart. Globe is getting it, too, and should release it sometime in May. As for local SRPs, there's still no official word although we're expecting it to not exceed P12,000 given its entry-level status and asking price abroad of $252 (about P10,700). We'll know very soon.
