Apple first unveiled the iMac Pro during their annual Worldwide Developers Conference event back in June and since then, potential buyers of the workstation class computer have been excited to see its launch.
The Pro is touted by Apple as their most powerful Mac ever made for real-time 3d rendering, machine learning development, and extremely fast code compiling tasks.
The beast of a machine will also offer immersive VR experience thanks to its improved frame rate capacity and top-notch specs. Here’s what you need to know about the iMac Pro:
Apple’s first order of business was to make sure their top-of-the-line product gets distinguished from their other offerings. As for the iMac Pro, they introduced a special space gray color scheme that makes it stand out with its stealthy look. Owners of the iMac Pro will also have exclusive access to its space gray accessories, which all adds to the premium Apple experience.
Apple wasn’t kidding when they said the iMac Pro is the most powerful Mac ever. It basically has the body of its 27-inch iMac cousin, but with far better specs.
The Pro will still have the stunning 5K Retina display although the much-desired touchscreen function hasn’t been developed for it yet.
Inside, it boasts up to an 18-Core Xeon processor, a 16GB Radeon Vega graphics memory card, and 11 Teraflops of single precision computing power. There’s also a 128GB ECC memory aboard paired with 4TB SSD. Aside from these, it’s equipped with four Thunderbolt 3 ports so you can hook up two 5K displays on either side for a triple screen setup.
The iMac Pro will cost you an arm and a leg with its starting price pegged at $4,999 (around P257,000). Adding better specs will bump up the price even more.
Here’s the basic configuration you’ll get for that starting price:
-Retina 5K display
-8-Core Xeon processor
-Radeon Vega graphics
-32GB ECC memory
So far, Apple has yet to reveal a specific release date, although they have stated that the iMac Pro will start shipping just in time for the holidays this December.
