The local smartphone wars has gained another powerful contender! Here's the LG Optimus Vu, a monstrous smartphone that has both the looks and awesome hardware to make its competitors (and you) take notice.
And we're not kidding when we say that this one's a really huge-ass phone. Coming in with a 5-inch touchscreen (with IPS tech for more viewing angles), the Optimus Vu is almost like a small tablet. In fact, our fellow phone geeks are calling it a "phablet." It's a kapre of a unit (sorry, we're still having our Halloween hang-over) compared to other smartphones, but still looks sleek and shiny enough that we'd gladly put it in out "classy gadgets" bin.
But enough with its outside, let's get down to what really makes this a superphone. A quad-core CPU (Nvidia Tegra 3)? Check. 1GB RAM? Check. Dual-cameras (8-megapixel main, 1.3-megapixel secondary)? Check. Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and 3G? Check, check, and check. Ikaw na, LG!
Just like the Galaxy Note II, which is seen as its main rival, the Optimus Vu comes with a stylus and stylus-optimized apps to give you more flexibility in navigation, content creation, and app use. To top things off, this one has a large battery to support its needs and large display. And, yes, it runs on Android, Ice Cream Sandwich to be exact—although we were hoping it had the latest version (Jelly Bean), we bet there's an update looming in the horizon.
As for the price, prepare to shell out P27,990 for one. Pretty steep? Yes. But remember, we're talking about a top-tier device with beauty and brains here so the SRP might be justified. The more important question is: Will it fit properly in your maong? We're looking at you, skinny jeans enthusiasts.
