So last week, on August 22 and 23, Globe Telecom had a pretty big techie bash that garnered a lot of fist bumps from the local geek community. Called the Wonderful World with Globe: Philippine Digital Lifestyle Expo, the event featured some of the giant telco's latest services and gizmos.
Because we're geeks, we decided to gatecrash drop by to see if there will be hi-tech stuff that will have us saying this:
As it turns out, there were several noteworthy tech offerings, to say the least! Check out below the nine tech goodies we found at the expo!
DIRECT CARRIER BILLING
So you want to DL Android apps but you don’t have a credit card. Don't fret: Sagot ka ng Globe, pare! With their new Direct Carrier Billing service, you'll be able to purchase content on the Play Store and the cost will be charged to your prepaid load or your postpaid account. Easy-peasy.

“But I already have Dropbox, Gmail, and Facebook to store my stuff online,” you say? Well, that’s a lot of places to sift through when you’re looking for one lousy porn file. With Globe Cloud, you can manage all those storage services in one app. Best of all, it’s open to Smart, Sun, and Talk N Text users, too.

Find out what’s showing, check the trailer, pick a seat, and purchase a ticket all with one little app. Heck, GMovies will even send you an image file of your actual ticket so you can show it to the manong usher at the cinema entrance:
The not-s0-good news: It currently works only for movies showing at Ayala Cinemas, but we're sure Globe is working to include other movie houses as well. Also, just like Globe Cloud, it's available for Smart, Sun, and Talk N Text users.

We take a break from all the geekiness with this photo:
Now back to regular techie programming...
Because getting a cab can be such a bitch here in Manila, here's GrabTaxi, an app that lets you hail a cab safely digitally, using just your Globe phone! Just DL the app (it's free!), use your data/Wi-Fi connection, reserve a ride, and you're on your way to, well, being on your way!
