Last weekend, Facebook Messenger was having problems.
According to some users tweeting about the issue, the latest update on iOS 11 seems to be the culprit.
On the other hand, users who have not updated to iOS 11 appear to be experiencing the same problem as well.
It looks like the latest iOS update is not the one to blame, but rather, it’s the most recent Facebook update that’s causing the problem.
In a statement released by Facebook yesterday, the company claims to have fixed the issue:
"On Friday September 22, 2017, some people reported having trouble accessing Messenger on iOS. We quickly investigated, and we have released an update. If you continue to experience problems please look in the App Store for version 135.1 and uninstall/reinstall the app. We are very sorry for any inconvenience.”
However, if your Facebook Messenger is still crashing despite updating it to its latest version, here are other hacks that you can do:
Uninstall and Reinstall the FB Messenger App
1) Log out FB
2) Delete FB Messenger
3) Reinstall FB Messenger
4) Log in FB
5) Log in Messenger
Reboot Your iPhone
1) For iPhone 6s and earlier model users: Press and hold both Sleep/Wake and Home buttons until you see the Apple logo
2) For iPhone 7/7 Plus users: Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Volume Down buttons until you see the Apple logo.
Clear App Caches
1) Open Facebook Messenger on iPhone, Tap on More at the right corner of the screen
2) Click “Settings”
3) Click “Account Settings”
4) Click “Browser
5) Click “Clear Data”
