Here come the superphones!

Previously, we told you guys that a new batch of powerful smartphones that can make your current units look oh-so-last-year will arrive this 2013. And it looks like it's already coming true this early. Case in point: HTC's recent official announcement that its latest flagship phone, the Butterfly, has just been let loose here in the Philippines.

Yep, it's called the HTC Butterly. Not the manliness of names, we know. But we assure you that you will quickly dismiss that thought as soon as you've heard about this device's capabilities. Here's a rundown: The Butterfly has a 1.5GHz quad-core CPU that's partnered with 2GB of RAM. If we didn't know any better, we'd think we're looking at the specs of a standard PC. Check out the video below for moreButterfly awesomeness.

And there's more under the hood: Inside there's 16GB of ready storage (expandable to 32GB via microSD), wireless connectivity over 4G LTE, 3G, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, and the latest version of Android (Jelly Bean). For camwhores, you'll get an 8-megapixel 1080p HD main camera (2.1-megapixel secondary). In the eye-candy department, the Butterfly comes with a huge 5-inch, 1080p HD touchscreen with Corning Gorilla Glass for added durability. And, from the video above, it looks like it's also water-proof (to some extent, at least)

All that in a package that's just 9.1mm thick and weighs only 140g. Whew!

As we've said, the Butterfly is now available locally via HTC's Concept Stores around the country (there's one in SM Mall of Asia, SM Megamall, and Glorietta, if you want to buy now). The price? P30,990. Yes, that's a lot of moolah but, hey, it is a superphone.
