Citing information from Japanese tech rumor blog Mac Otakara, Forbes said the iPhone 8 will be the only Apple smartphone this year to have built-in wireless charging.
This doesn’t mean that the standard iPhone 7S and 7S Plus models won’t get access to this feature, too. Sure, it’s not built-in, but apparently, an accessory that will allow these models to be charged wirelessly will reportedly be available.
However, there will be a trade-off in the form of the 7S and 7S Plus models not coming with the Lightning to 3.5mm headphone jack and the USB Type-C adaptors.
Last week, KGI Securities analyst Ming-Chi Kuo claimed that all iPhones to launch this year will have wireless charging. Previous speculation on the new iPhones include an all-glass design featuring an OLED screen and the addition of a graphite sheet lamination that will prevent overheating. On top of this, pricing is expected to go over $1,000.
So far, the rumors agree that the iPhone 8 will indeed have wireless charging. We guess it’s for us to wait and see.
Apple will reportedly be launching the iPhone 8 which some refer to as the iPhone X this year as a tribute to the tenth anniversary of the original iPhone since it was first revealed by the late Steve Jobs back in 2007.
