Forget the resulting buzz, hype, and seeming disappointment produced by last week's glorious iPhone 5 launch for a moment and focus on the all-new LG Optimus G. Why so? Well, this one deserves your attention since, from the outside in, it's one impressive piece of hardware. A smartphone on steroid, if you will.
The Optimus G's list of features certainly got our collective jaws dropping. Think 2GB of RAM that's partnered with a 1.5GHz quad-core chip, full wireless connectivity, a 13-megapixel main camera (a 1.3-megapixel secondary cam), and 32GB of memory. Ang tindi 'di ba?
And, as they say in home TV shopping networks, that's not all, folks! There's also a huge-ass 4.7-inch touchscreen with a resolution of 1280 x 768!
Adding more heat to this already hot package is 4G LTE connectivity, which means this baby can make use of uber-fast LTE networks like the one being offered by Smart (and soon by Globe). Rounding up the list of awesome features is an Android Ice Cream Sandwich OS. Although all that hardware turned the Optimus G into quite a sizable handheld (almost like your DVD's remote control), we have to give kudos to LG for keeping it slim, coming in at just 8.45mm thin.
The Optimus G's arrival just turned the already crowded and interesting smartphone arena into an actual war zone. Let's see how the battle for supremacy will pan out between the likes of the iPhone 5, Galaxy S III, the Optimus G, and the other contenders. South Korea will get first servings of this device next week. Hopefully, Pinoy geeks get a visit soon, too. Join us as we cross our fingers...
