Yesterday, Nokia dropped a bomb at the on-going MWC 2012 in Barcelona by unveiling the 808 PureView, a smartphone that packs a 41-megapixel camera. Yes, that's 41-freakin'-megapixels of imaging awesomeness. Anyway, not that we're surprised; we've already seen signs that it's coming. Given its advertised shooting capabilities, comparisons with the Nokia N8, which many look at as the handset with the best camera currently in the market, are inevitable. We'd like to do a comparo of each one's shooting prowess but that's something reserved for another time (no word yet on when the 808 PureView will be available here).
However, sample photos taken with the 808 PureView have been put up by Nokia to show us just how good the camera is on the device. Our initial impression? Simply stunning, and that's not an overstatement. Colors are crisp, details are superb. In fact, judging from the samples, we could even go as far as saying a new "king" has arrived in the land of smartphones, and that's a big deal. You could point out that these were taken for publicity, so the top-notch quality is to be expected. Still, the photos were taken with the 808 PureView without any form of retouching which gives us an idea of the great shooting potential the device has.
We won't keep you waiting any longer so head to the gallery below for the sample photos.
