When he's not opening a can of whoop-ass on an opponent in the ring, being photoshopped into images of rock bands, or playing professional ball, Manny Pacquiao is probably lounging somewhere enjoying the kind of stuff every bro wants and dreams of.
Case in point: Our Pambansang Kamao playing with the Samsung Gear VR. Yep, the Pac-Man had his destructive hands on one of the latest virtual reality gizmos in town, and we can't help but get an eensie-weensie bit jealous. #TaoLang
We GIF-ied the brief-but-sweet meeting of this two pop culture heavyweights to give you an idea of just how cool the experience was! See Manny's reaction below!
Here's Manny getting assisted with wearing the Gear VR. Feeling some #FirstTime jitters, idol?
"Wow. It's like you're really...on the other planet!"
"Wow, beautiful ha!"
"I feel like I'm not... I'm not in the earth, ha ha!"
"I feel like I'm in the other planet."
"It's beautiful. Uhm, you can see clearly."
"I love that. What's, what—Ha ha ha!—technology is that? Ha ha ha!"
Based on his giggles, Pacquiao clearly loved the short VR trip. For those not in the know, the Gear VR is a headset wherein a compatible handset (e.g. Galaxy Note 4) is placed (on the eye portion of the device) to deliver virtual reality eye-candy. It's actually a partnership between Samsung and Oculus (creators of the Oculus Rift), so it's safe to say the brains behind the Gear VR know what they're doing.
An official consumer launch is coming soon although a development kit is now available for developers in the US for $200 (around P9,000). As for us here in Pinas, well, we'll have to wait for further announcements from Sammy. Hey, at least we have more time to think about buying it and saving up, right?
