Marvel fans out there, here's another reason to cheer aside from the fact that the next Avengers movie is coming soon. The popular and beloved comic book brand has just unveiled its AR (augmented reality) app that will let users gain access to exclusive content for iOS and Android users. The best part? The app is expected to be free! Nice!

The AR app is programmed to recognize imagery and panels on certain physical Marvel comic books and makes use of your handset's camera. When you run it and point your smartphone to a compatible comic book, it will prompt you to download to download the additional content which might include interactive 3D animations, commentary videos, behind the scenes footage and extra artworks. Aside from the AR app, Marvel also said that it is adding a new line called Marvel Infinite Comics to its Comics app.

We knew that Marvel is walking more and more on the digital route so this AR app's arrival is not he least bit surprising. Speaking of the app, it's powered by Aurasma which gave us a glimpse of how interactive and, well, cool augmented reality can really be. Click here to see what we're talking about.
