The wait is over. Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds is now available for the PS3 and Xbox 360. Capcom packed quite a bit of juice into this one and you’ll find that it really is a couple of worlds better than its predecessor. For one, this is the first game in the series to make use of three-dimensional graphics on a 2D battleground. The result is a sharp new look that makes you wish you had another pair of eyes. Air combos and special attacks have never looked this awesome.
Speaking of awesome, the game also features a new “Exchange” command. This lets you switch characters while you’re doing a combo so your next fighter can continue the chain. The revamped swaps also let you launch an enemy into the air, allowing the next guy to do the honors and get with the air combo. Capcom also made some changes to the controls and adapted a style similar to what they did with Tatsunoko vs. Capcom: Ultimate All-Stars – three buttons for light, medium, and heavy blows. This gives you less-complicated combos, less stress on your fingers, and a controller that would last you longer.
Marvel vs. Capcom 3 has a lot of new features, but the best part has to be the character roster. You’ll be picking three at a time, so you gotta have a lot to choose from. A lot of the mainstay characters have come back for more, but you’ll also be treated to a big batch of characters new to the series.
Let’s meet the new challengers, shall we?
