As Faith Connors, you’re one of many underground messengers called “Runners” who get all over the place Parkour-style. You might get a healthy dose of vertigo from all the flighty action and the character-sensitive camera movement, but you’ll certainly suffer from combat deficiency and constant déjà vu with the annoying trial-and-error system. Stringing movements and routes into a smooth, exhilarating run is a major hurdle, but Mirror’s Edge makes up for it with its kickass visuals and sounds, non-Einstein controls, and flawless pace. It’s your classic platformer with a fresher take, a first person-perspective, and momentum-focused gameplay.
