Series-crunching junkies, there's a new TV show to sink your thoughts into (and waste away productivity boredom with). Called Hannibal, it's a new nakakatindig-balahibo psychological-thriller which rolled out its first episode last April 8 here in the Philippines. And, the good news is, for those looking to go beyond the regular boob tube experience with the show, there's an app for that! But first, a video!

For the uninitiated, Hannibal revolves around the characters in the novel Red Dragon by Thomas Harris. The show, as its title implies, focuses on Dr. Hannibal Lecter, the same dude played by Anthony Hopkins in the popular serial killer flicks Silence of the Lambs and Red Dragon, and his relationship with the FBI. That should bode well for those looking to see some blood, brain-stimulating investigations, and action-packed policework in a series. A likely recipe for spine-tingling chills if you ask us.

As for the Hannibal app which was created by Sony Pictures Television, it lets users see more content than what's shown on your TV. We're told that, whenever you're watching Hannibal on AXN, it can actually sync (provided you've got Wi-Fi or data connection) with the show to reveal added content like trivia, episode-specific facts, and production notes. The app functions something like a second screen which beefs up your viewing while watching the show, the reason why it's formally called the "Hannibal second screen app."

The app also lets you get social by conversing with other Hannibal fans via Twitter and Facebook and sharing photos, excerpts, and other goodies related to the show. And, if you want to play investigator, it also has a feature that lets you get a closer peek at investigation and crime scenes as well as track details revealed throughout the episodes. If you're one who savors interactions or loveteams, the Hannibal app, shows you how the characters connect and how their relationships unfold.

If you're a fan of the show or serial killer-based thrillers, we recommend getting the app, and it's now ready for download for iOS devices via iTunes. Don't worry, it's absolutely free!

Hannibal is now showing locally through AXN on Mondays, 10PM.
