Nvidia has just announced something really awesome we wish our tablets and smartphones have. Ladies and gents, say hello to the all-new Tegra K1 graphics chip!

Check out its preview video below:

For those not in the know, the Tegra K1 is being hyped as the next big thing in mobile graphics. As we've said, it's a graphics chip that's made for smartphones and tablets. It aims to bridge the gap between dedicated desktop gaming and mobile gaming, the latter often described as weaker or "watered-down."

With Tegra K1, Nvidia says we can potentially have graphics on mobile devices at par with those seen on more powerful desktops and notebooks. It certainly has the hardware to do the trick; the Tegra K1 is made from the the same chip architecture found on GeForce PC cards. That basically means it has the framework of a desktop GPU (graphics processing unit) even though it's way smaller and made for mobile devices.

Here's another demo:

Not only that, the Tegra K1 is actually a quad-core chip that boasts of a whopping 192 graphics coresmore than double the cores its predecessor, the Tegra 4, hadall working together to bring PC-class graphics to phones and tablets. In fact, Nvidia has gone as far as saying that the Tegra K1 can give the same graphics as the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 right on our sweaty palms! We give you a moment to pick your jaw off the floor...

But of course, we won't believe it unless we see it with our own eyes. According to Nvidia, the first Tegra K1s will arrive in devices in the first half of the year, so yeah, it might mean this month or in June. Until then, #IponIponDinPagMayTime.
