When talking about mobile phones, it's one thing to upgrade to a newer version of the model you already own, and it's another to shift to an unfamiliar brand all together.
With a couple of tech giants (we don't even have to name them) fighting for the lion's share of the smartphone market, it would be difficult for a newcomer like OnePlus, which identifies itself as "a global startup challenging conventional concepts of technology," to grab a slice of the commercial pie.
But if a newcomer like the cutting-edge OnePlus 3T is able to disrupt the current market by providing a quality product, it won't be long before consumers start considering the brand as a legitimate top mobile phone contender.
The folks over at Digital Walker were kind enough to lend a unit to FHM, and here is our verdict:
Long life - 4.5/5
The Dash Charge feature, which is the main selling point of the OnePlus 3T, allows the user more time on the phone. No need to loiter at Starbucks to juice up your battery; a 30-minute stay is enough to fuel a whole day of nonstop Facebook lurking, frequent Instagram storytelling, and occasional Spotify streaming.
Smooth operator - 4.5/5
The smartphone is equipped with the most advanced mobile systems, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor (2.35 GHz), to regulate even the most complex multitasking loads (read: 312 opened apps and tabs). Stock up on those unfinished anime and K-dramas with the OnePlus 3T's extensive space—6GB of RAM and internal storage of up to 128GB—without sacrificing optimal performance.
Say cheese - 4.5/5
Here are a couple of underrated attributes that a selfie-loving girfriend will also like: a 16 MP front and back cameras and a Smart Capture mode to indulge her vanity. Plus, you can fulfill your photography dreams—in HD! Armed with enhanced lighting, reduced noise, lightning-speed shutter speed, highly responsive autofocus, and a comprehensive manual mode, the OnePlus 3T is the ideal practice lens before purchasing a DSLR.
Overall - 4.5/5
Save for a few confusing elements in the interface (which can be learned in a jiffy), the unit is fairly user-friendly. The best thing about the phone is that it delivers on its word of premium specs for a reasonable price.
The OnePlus 3T, which retails for P24,990, is currently available in select Digital Walker branches (Powerplant, Eastwood Mall, SM Mall of Asia, etc.) and will be at hand in more stores soon
