The Team You Choose In 'Pokémon GO' Could Ruin Your Friendship

We've all heard of friendships ruined by contrasting political and religious views, but one that is destroyed just by being on different Pokémon GO teams?

Since its release, the augmented-reality game has built such a hype among smartphone users and Pokémon fanatics all over the world. Social media platforms have been bombarded by posts about Pokémon GO from one person to another.

People keep on showing off their Pokémon through screenshot uploads on Facebook. The downside, however, is that the game is also causing quite the commotion among peers.


Apparently, the craze is ruining friendships—and it all starts once a player chooses which team to join: Team Mystic (blue), Team Valor (red), and Team Instinct (yellow).

One unfortunate incident happened in Sherman, Texas wherein two players were caught in a fistfight while arguing about their chosen allegiances.

According to a KXII News 12 report, one of them was apprehended by the police after a game of Pokémon GO gone wrong. John Rodriguez, the man in question, was arrested for starting the scuffle while playing under the influence of alcohol.

While some choose to battle in real life, others are promoting peace among Pokémon GO fans. Some even decided to create an unofficial fourth team, "Team Harmony," whose goal is to uphold...well, what else?

Honestly, don't take the game too seriously. Ending years of friendship because of Pikachu and co. is definitely not worth it.
