Guys and gals, the local Galaxy just grew.
Samsung has officially launched the much-anticipated Galaxy Note II here in the Philippines, and it brings the same goodies that endeared us to its predecessor, and more. And because Christmas is just around the corner, allow us to add this one to our ever-growing list of "things we want but can't afford."
So, what's the buzz about the Note II? For one, just like the first-gen Note, it sports a big-ass display. In fact, the one slapped on it is even larger than its predecessor's at 5.5 inches. But despite the huge touchscreen, the Note II managed to shed a couple of millimeters measuring in at an anorexic 9.4mm. That should make it a sight to behold as well as a perfect fit for many pockets.
But the real magic is found under the slim and shiny exterior. The Note II has a quad-core CPU, a major upgrade of the original Note's dual-core brain. It also has double the RAM at 2GB as well as full wireless connectivity over Wi-Fi, 3G, Bluetooth, and even 4G. Nice!
For the camwhores and Instagram-ers, the Note II boasts an 8-megapixel back camera with HD capability. There's also a 1.9-megapixel front shooter for your Skype and video-call needs.
Bring back the stylus!
As expected, the Note II has a next-gen S-Pen stylus that adds more options to your navigation needs. Add that to the S-Note feature and you've got a potent combo that takes care of several mobile chores (i.e. writing documents on the go, creating memos, sketches) with ease. Plus, the S-Pen stylus is said to be really precise which means it might be the perfect match for certain apps like mobile Photoshop.
Sweet Jelly Bean!
But wait, there's more! The Note II actually runs on Android Jelly Bean which makes it one of the very few devices to have first servings of the latest version of Google's mobile platform not only locally but worldwide. Gingerbread? Honeycomb? Ice Cream Sandwich? With the Note II, you can finally say "those are so last year!"
Coming soon to a shop near you
For those asking, the Note II can be had via Globe and Smart's postpaid plans. However, if you don't want to be tied down to a monthly subscription plan, you can snag one for P32,990. We're expecting it to be available in local stores later this month after a grand consumer launch in SM Mall of Asia on October 20.
