Looks like owners of the Samsung Galaxy S II will have to wait a bit more to have a taste of Ice Cream Sandwich as the Korean-titan has announced it needs a bit more time before rolling out the update. Samsung Philippines has confirmed the delay via their Facebook page with a post. See below.
I regret to inform you that due to the extended period we need for testing the ICS upgrade for Galaxy S II, we will be moving the release date. This is to ensure that no problems will be encountered on the phone after the upgrade. I am so sorry about the inconvenience but rest assured that we will keep you all posted on the confirmed release date.
If you're a local Galaxy S II owner, we won't blame you if you feel disappointed. Fact is, reports that the update will come March 10, last week, have been circulating and to find out this isn't exactly true can be be frustrating. Samsung has already tweeted that the date is wrong and will announce the schedule when all kinks have been ironed out.
We know, the wait has been pretty long, about 4 months after Samsung first said that ICS is coming to Galaxy S II owners. Still, we're thinking it's better to wait bit more and have a fully-working update than getting it now and risk getting bugs on your device. Of course, we're also hoping the additional waiting period wouldn't last long, and we're expecting that will be the case. Anyway, check out the gallery below for a glimpse of the features the Galaxy S II should have once the ICS update is finally done.
